Quantity Surveyor (QS) Engineer

Location: Head Office-Heliopolis

Job Summary

The Quantity Surveyor (QS) Engineer is responsible for managing all cost-related aspects of construction projects, ensuring financial efficiency while maintaining quality and contractual compliance. The role includes quantity take-offs, cost estimation, budgeting, contract administration, valuation of work, and preparation of payment applications, variations, and final accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Estimate project costs and assist in preparing budgets and tender submissions.
  • Measure and value completed work for progress payments.
  • Prepare and submit interim payment applications to clients.
  • Review and certify subcontractor payment applications.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and negotiate variation orders (VOs) and claims.
  • Monitor project costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain records of quantities, costs, variations, and contractual correspondence.
  • Assist in preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and tender documentation.
  • Review contracts to ensure compliance with commercial and contractual obligations.
  • Coordinate with project engineers, procurement teams, and site personnel regarding quantities and material requirements.
  • Track project progress against budgets and prepare cost reports.
  • Participate in project meetings to provide commercial updates.
  • Assist in preparing final accounts and project closeout documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, contractual requirements, and industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certification (e.g., MRICS, AIQS, or equivalent) is an advantage.
  • 3+ years of experience in quantity surveying, cost control, or commercial management within construction or MEP projects.
